This new interactive presentation of Breast
Ultrasound theory, and of the Ultrasound-guided Interventional techniques
in the Breast is meant to assist those among the radiologists, gynecologists
and surgeons who would like to learn how to use and interpret breast
ultrasound and have the desire to master the interventional techniques.
It includes useful tips, tricks and caveats by internationally acclaimed
experts as well as four new ultrasound signs and some new refinements
in breast ultrasound technique.
An original, intuitive and user-friendly
interface allows navigation
between breast ultrasound theory, including a small pathology atlas,
relevant clinical cases and instructional videos. This makes possible
a non-linear type of study that can be adapted to the needs and
circumstances of the individual reader.
The Image galleries,
120 subchapters of text and the clinical
cases contain more than 2000 Ultrasound
and Mammography Images with detailed interpretations.
51 clinical ultrasound cases are
included in the CD ROM complete with their clinical history, mammography
and ultrasound data, as well as the final diagnoses based on tissue
pathology, acquired by surgery or biopsy. Several
more cases can be downloaded as *pdf files from this web site. They will be periodically
added to in the course of time.
More than 200 instructional
Videos illustrate every aspect of
breast ultrasound diagnosis and interventional work. They also
explain the preparation of tissue phantoms and the way to practice
on them in order to become competent in the interventional techniques.
In addition to being embedded in the text and in the clinical cases,
the videos are also organised in galleries by subject, a fact that
allows independent study of specific entities.

A detailed interactive alphabetical index ensures easy access to the information.
Links embedded in the text make possible the viewing of the reference source
information on the fly (the reference simply pops-up by letting the pointer
rest on the reference sign) without disrupting the flow of the study. The references
are also catalogued separately. All the information contained on the CD ROM
can be printed on any printer connected to your personal computer.

Provided you have an active internet connection, this CD-ROM will serve as
an electronic hub allowing you easy contact with the authors by E-Mail. Through
this supporting site you will be also be able to learn about other valuable
Web resources of great practical value for the practice of breast ultrasound.

We have made every effort to ensure for you the best possible experience
in interactive continuing education. We are looking forward to
your comments and feedback on this version of the 1st edition.
They will be useful to correct any remining bugs or inadvertent
mistakes.
Sincerely yours,
Stergios Prapavesis
