In the private radiology practice of Stergios
Prapavesis M.D. in Thessaloniki, Greece, our main clinical
interest is the early diagnosis of breast tumours:
Our breast center integrates the diagnostic applications of Ultrasonography and Mammography with
guided interventional procedures, like Ultrasound-guided
breast biopsy and preoperative localization of
nonpalpable breast lesions.
In selected cases the application of ductography and cyst
and abscess evacuation provide valuable assistance.
Our clinical experience has been published in the form of a multimedia
teaching file on a CD-ROM titled "Breast
Ultrasound and Ultrasound-Guided Interventional Techniques".
(Thessaloniki, 2002).
The CD-ROM will be presented as an electronic education exhibit in major
upcoming lectures and radiology events.
Other areas of clinical interest include Urology
Ultrasonography, Gynecology ultrasonography, Thyroid
Ultrasound, Guided Biopsy of the Thyroid Gland and Musculosceletal
Ultrasound.
We have active participation in the activities of a network
of ultrasound professionals (Echonet) including use of our practice
as a reference center for breast problems and our participation as an
instructor in seminars for doctors.
We are also currently involved in clinical research concerning new applications
of breast ultrasound in cooperation with an ultrasound scanner manufacturer (B&K
Medical).
Our Web site is meant as an experiment in expanding the limits of multimedia
education to include communication and interaction between readers and
the authors of the multimedia presentation. This web site will hopefully
constitute the hub that will connect the users of our educational CD-ROM with
each other, with the authors of the CD-ROM and
with other professionals and organizations active in the field of breast
diagnosis. The site will achieve this by allowing our readers to review
more breast cases updated regularly, as well
as to submit their own cases for discussion.
Such an exchange of information can only benefit both our patients and
ourselves.
Finally, links to relevant Web sites will assist
our guests to reach important information available on the World Wide
Web.
We wish you the best success in your active pursuit of knowledge.
