| We are currently involved in clinical research in cooperation
with B&K Medical
Corporation (a subsidiary of Analogic Corporation) on their
latest Ultrasound Scanner, the Hawk 2102.
The topics of our research include clinical evaluation of the new 8811 linear
array 12 MHz transducer, optimisation of breast factory preset settings for the
breast examination, the use of true harmonic imaging in breast diagnosis and
the practical aspects of detection and localization of microcalcification clusters
using ultrasound guidance, with their most recent equipment.

| Successive ultrasound images of the same
lesion with a 12MHz transducer. A small isoechoic lesion
is demonstrated in Picture 1 that would not have been detected,
were it not for the presence of microcalcifications ( barely
visible by Ultrasound) However, with harmonic imaging, in
Picture 2, the lesion acquires a more hypoechoic appearance
and stands out from adjacent fat lobules. This allowed us
to recognize the lesion as definite pathology and to target
it with core needle biopsy. Small, hyalinized fibroadenoma. |
